Green Lady in the Victorian Coat

When my dad was a little boy he and his friends were playing in some old cottages that were due to be pulled down. This was in my home town of Taunton, England in the late fifties. They ran through the house to the walled garden at the back of the house.

He clearly remembers that there were no doors or gates out of the garden, the only way out was back through the house. As they reached the back door they saw an old lady in a long green coat leaning over. She seemed to be tending to something in the soil in the garden. They stopped dead in their tracks as they knew that they were trespassing. Dad says he and his friends turned and legged it out the front of the house and hid behind some bushes and watched and waited for her to come after them.

After ten minutes nothing happened so they quietly crept back inside and the lady was no where to be seen. They checked the garden and the whole house, she could not have got past them either. He just remembers her green Victorian coat she wore.
